Kyrianna Nemitz’s cross country & transfer story

Transfer student Kyrianna Nemitz’s running journey just started a few years ago, and now she is one of the top runners at LVC.

“Running helps me decompress,” Nemitz, a junior data science and psychology double major, said. “When I’m running, I’m not worried about things, and it gives me a break from being busy all the time. I like having a moment of peace that helps me for the rest of my day.”

During her senior year of high school, Nemitz decided to pick up running as a hobby, leading her to join the cross-country team. She started to really enjoy it.

Then, fast forward to the start of her college search, Nemitz started out running cross country at the University of Scranton. She decided to enter the transfer portal after attending the school for a year and a half.

She started looking at cross-country races of nearby schools. She wanted it to be competitive, but did not want to spend all of her time running. She loved LVC the second she set foot on campus.

“It was really easy to transfer, and I loved the environment. It (LVC) felt more like a community than a school. During this past preseason, I got to know everyone better, and they are all so nice and supportive,” Nemitz said.

As far as transferring, Nemitz said that it is important to take the risk, or the chance will be lost. She states that people are always going to wonder what would have happened if they had transferred. Nemitz said that everything is what a person makes of it, and if they transfer, they have to make the experience for themselves.

Nemitz’s favorite events are both the 3K and the mile. She also enjoys relays and running with the team.

“During races, especially when I first started, I learned that running literally is all mental,” she said. “You have to really want to finish a race in order to finish it. Now, it is easier to finish any run I do. It’s a mini motivator,” Kyrianna said.
