Corporate finance club, one of LVC’s newest clubs on campus, is seeking to expand student interest in finance with its upcoming events and weekly meetings.
The club is perfect for students with majors ranging from actuarial science to business and marketing.
“A big part of our goal is to bridge the gap between our academic studies and professional careers,” Roman Schelhorn, corporate finance club president, said.
On Tuesdays, the club covers valuation in finance, and on Thursdays, members learn about stock portfolios and ways to manage them. A finance newsletter and an Excel tutorial are uploaded to the club’s Canvas page on a weekly basis.
“I hope members develop a passion and interest in finance,” Schelhorn said. “Beyond that, we’re going over technical skills that are applicable to various career fields, irrespective of whether they choose to pursue a career in finance.”
Looking ahead, the club is planning two trips this academic year: one to the Fulton Bank headquarters in Lancaster and another to New York City with the math club.
Though no dates have yet been confirmed, the club will also host guest speakers.
“We are planning several professional speakers, including commercial bankers, investment bankers and CFOs in various companies,” Schelhorn said.
Corporate finance club meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Thursdays at 11 a.m. in room 186 of Clyde A. Lynch Memorial Hall.
