Jared Graeff once dreamed of the NBA — now he’s focused on leading his family’s four-generation pest control business.
Graeff, a senior business and marketing major, originally wanted to be a basketball player then an engineer. Jared’s dream to be an engineer stuck all the way up until his senior year when he finally decided to start looking and applying to colleges.
Jared started working during the summers at his family’s extermination business, Laudeman’s Termite and Pest Control, starting in summer of 2022. The business is based out of Minersville, PA, where Jared went to high school. The seemed to have planted a seed in Jared’s mind.
With a small family business of only three workers, Jared thoroughly enjoyed his summers at the family’s business. This inspired Jared to take up a business and marketing major here at Lebanon Valley College.
Laudeman Termite and Pest Control was started in 1975 by his great grandfather. It is now owned and operated by his grandfather, George R Laudeman, and his aunt, Jen Laudeman.
“Jared reminds me of me when I was young, strong, stubborn, and a strong will to work.,” George Laudeman, Jared’s grandfather, said.
Fast forward four years and Jared is in his final year at LVC with his sights set on running the family business.
“The past four summers with the business have been awesome,” Graeff said. He also said, “Being able to work with close family and friends is a blessing along with being able to work close to home.”
When talking with Jared about the future, he said he is excited to take the reins and run this business. Jared has hopes of expanding into new areas and has many goals and aspirations as he awaits graduation.
This semester he is completing his business internship with the family business, while also taking classes on campus. Best of luck to Jared on his future endeavors.
