Golfer transfers from Durango, Colorado to LVC for new opportunity

From Durango, Colorado, to Lebanon Valley College, a transfer student looks to make his mark on the men’s golf team.

At Fort Lewis College, Max Fisher gained competitive NCAA Division II experience. Though enjoying the level of play, he decided a change of environment would better align with his goals both on and off the course.

“I came to LVC because I realized that as a student athlete, you need to think about more than just your sport,” Fisher, a sophomore, said. “I went to Fort Lewis because I believed that it was the best to propel my golf career to success, then realized the other aspects of the school were not a fit for me.”

The LVC golf team, competing within the MAC (Mid-Atlantic-Conference), differs from Fort Lewis and the RMAC (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) in both division and geographic location, but that does not concern Fisher.

“The only difference is elevation. Still getting used to the change in yardages. Otherwise, it’s just golf,” said Fisher.

Despite the lengthy move, Fisher, who transferred into LVC as a sophomore, welcomed the opportunity to progress his education and collegiate golf career further. His expectations are set high as he welcomes the upcoming season.

“Ideally, I’d like this year to make a top 10 in an event. Throughout my college career I’d like a college win and a win at the mac as a team. Ever since I visited LVC I felt like they were long time friends of mine, and I’m happy to be here,” said Fisher.

The Dutchmen begin their fall golf season Sept. 7, at the Dickinson Invitational in Carlisle, PA.
