Tennis dominates at Penn State Harrisburg

Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams prevailed in their matches against Penn State Harrisburg.

The teams played a dual match on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Middletown against the Nittany Lions. They found success against the strong team, both adding to their win streaks.

For the men, they cruised to an early 3-0 lead after winning every doubles match. Sophomore Jesse Beck fought a tough match at number one singles, eventually falling 4-6 4-6 and recording the only loss for the men. The other singles matches ended in the Dutchmen’s favor, leading to their overall match win of 8-1 and improving their record to 4-1.

The women also found early success in doubles, winning every match. For singles, senior Jacquelyn McBride recorded the only loss, losing 1-6 2-6 at number one singles. All the other singles matches were victories, leading to an overall match win of 8-1 and improving their undefeated record to 4-0.

Both teams are headed to their final competitions for their 2023 fall seasons. The women’s team will travel to Baltimore for the Goucher Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 8, and the men’s team is headed to Madison, N.J. for the ITA Division III Regional Championships Friday, Sept. 29, until Sunday, Oct. 1.
