Art gallery interns switch to online work

Student interns for the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery have switched to remote work due to the move to off-campus learning.

While many of the interns were already working partially remote, going fully remote has had its challenges. Hours, for example, are harder to make up due to the limits of remote work.

While many of the interns were already working partially remote, going fully remote has had its challenges. Hours, for example, are harder to make up due to the limits of remote work.

Madonna Borde, a senior English and Spanish double major, is one of those interns. She translated work for things such as gallery labels, as well as the installation of the current exhibit Achievements and Aspirations. She said it was more convenient to be in the gallery with Dr. Barbara McNulty, art professor and gallery director, and Rebecca Worhach, gallery assistant, while working.

“[While on campus] I was able to go visit the Gallery and stay there while I worked on my translations,” Borde said. “It’s a bit more challenging to find the motivation to get my work done since I’m stuck at home.”

Borde will be continuing her translation work remotely for the upcoming spring exhibition, Genres of Photography, as well as preparing a Global Lens exhibition for Fall 2021.
