Where to go for a bite to eat

Whether it’s before class or fueling up after practice, LVC students all have their favorite places to eat.

Annville, Palmyra and Lebanon all offer great food options outside of LVC’s campus but that are still within a 10 to 15-minute drive. Most restaurants have been able to socially distance their indoor dining rooms, but those who haven’t have opted for an outdoor arrangement instead.

Mason Jerden, senior political science major, has spent time living in Colorado, Texas and California and uses his experiences from across the United States to add to his knowledge of food.

“When I’m in the mood for a good steak around here, Texas Roadhouse never fails,” Jerden said.

Texas Roadhouse is able to provide customers with a large, outdoor tent and comfortable benches, accompanied by some cowboy-themed music, of course.

Another LVC favorite is Schwalm’s Cleona Restaurant, which serves breakfast bright and early, every day at 5 a.m.

“Schwalm’s is what I want on a Saturday morning,” Neal Shabestar, a junior exercise science major, said. “It’s solid food that reminds me of home.”

It’s an interesting take, showing that not only are students branching out and trying local favorites but also finding what gives them a sense of familiarity around Annville.

Breakfast seems to be the theme amongst students, as another favorite to emerge was The Bagel Rack. The Bagel Rack has adapted by utilizing a drive-through system for orders and still provides an array of assorted bagels, sandwiches and salads to hungry customers.

“Bagel Rack is always a popular spot after practice.” Nick Serrano, a junior criminal justice major, said. “It’s the perfect place to get a bite to eat and bond with the team.”

It’s clear that amongst LVC students, they’ve established their go-to spots. From breakfast places, to Italian restaurants, to local favorites, Annville and the area around it have a lot to offer.
