Lebanon Valley College students of all class years and academic backgrounds will gather to present their research projects at the annual Inquiry Celebration Symposium on Thursday, April 26.

Inquiry is an annual event that LVC hosts in order to showcase the hard work and research that the students conducted during each academic year. Inquiry is part of the week-long Council for Undergraduate Research’s celebration of student accomplishments. Laura Brent, a senior digital communications major, will be presenting her year-long research project that her five-person group conducted in their capstone class.

“I will be presenting SHMAP, which is a mobile web application that provides locations of store products on a digital map,” Brent said. “I am looking forward to seeing the final product because my group and I have worked so hard over the course of the year researching, developing, designing and creating SHMAP. It will be really rewarding to see our hard work pay off.”

In addition to the Inquiry Celebration Symposium, LVC’s departmental honor societies will host their induction ceremonies from April 8 until the end of the month. Inquiry 2018 will also feature poetry readings and musical recitals throughout the month of April. Theresa Messenger, a senior digital communications and English dual major, was inducted into the English department’s honor society, Sigma Tau Delta, on April 11.

“Being inducted into Sigma Tau Delta is a huge honor and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a member of such a prestigious English honor society,” Messenger said. “As a member of this society, I can access a network of resources, scholarship and internship opportunities among other things.”

At the symposium, the students will present their research to an audience of faculty, peers, college Trustees, administrators, industry representatives and friends of the College. Students and members of the community are invited to attend the celebration of student achievements.

The Inquiry Celebration Symposium will be held in the Sorrentino Gymnasium on Thursday, April 26, starting at 6 p.m.
