Women's Basketball looks to repeat last year's success ahead of new season

Following last year's great season, the LVC women's basketball team is striving to have the same success in the upcoming year.

Throughout the preseason, the team has headlined one goal for how they can replicate their 18-8 record the year prior.

" One of our main mottos this season has been to get 1% better every day at practice," Abbie Reed, senior captain, said. "This perspective allows us to take it day by day and not get too overwhelmed by our lengthy season and long-term goals."

While this has been the recurring thing to think about in the short term, the team does still look ahead for what they want to do.

"I think one of our biggest goals is to continue building on the success we had last year while finding ways to get better as a team," Reed said. "We want to compete for a championship, but we also recognize that the little things we do every day are what will put us in a position to achieve that."

While this goal is obtainable for the team, it will take contributions from some new faces to achieve. The Dutchmen graduated four starters last year, opening many opportunities and roles to returning players.

" Everyone is going to have to contribute in different ways, whether that means stepping up offensively, being more vocal, or taking on a bigger leadership role," Reed said. "Ultimately, it is going to take everyone embracing their role, investing in one another, and being willing to do whatever is best for the team."

The Dutchmen open their season Friday, Nov. 6, with a home game against Albright.
