Eight years after graduation, Megan Williams is back where it all began.
Megan Williams, a 2018 graduate of LVC, now wears the title of Assistant Director of Admissions.
During her time at Lebanon Valley, she was part of the women's tennis team and worked as a Valley Ambassador in admissions. This role sparked her passion for higher education and led her to pursue a career in admissions.
“What started as a student leadership opportunity quickly became something I knew I wanted to build a career around,” Williams said.
These days, she is in charge of the Valley Ambassadors program, managing more than 70 student tour guides and planning large-scale admissions events. Each student’s first visit to campus plays a meaningful part in their journey, and being able to see the same students walk across the stage at graduation is a “true full-circle moment” for Williams.
The first campus visit is just a small part of the story. Over the course of an academic year, Williams, her team of admissions counselors and Valley Ambassadors work to coordinate a diverse lineup of events for families and their students that highlight the best of the Valley.
Discovery Days, LVC Lives, Days at the Valley and many more of these events pave the road to enrollment for each student.
“My first visit was a Discovery Day Open House,” she said. “It was my first college visit ever. I recall even then feeling so relaxed and welcomed from the admission staff and Valley Ambassadors. It set the bar extremely high for other colleges.”
This experience was ultimately the reason she chose to attend LVC.
In addition to herself, the admissions department also employs four other LVC alumni as counselors. A place where so many students come back to work is a true testament to the appreciation and love LVC’s alumni have for the school.
The Valley’s hometown feel sets it apart from other institutions in a special way that even its own alumni can’t get away from after graduation.
“It’s incredibly gratifying to make others feel so welcome, just like LVC did for me," she said.
