LVC student-athletes have an opportunity to connect both spiritually and socially through Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
FCA provides a space for students to have fellowship, share experiences and explore their faith in a supportive environment. Jared Hostetter, FCA president, has been impacted personally by the organization.
“FCA’s mission is to bring any athletes and people close to God,” Hostetter said. “We want to provide a space where people feel safe to commune through fellowship, while connecting on a personal and spiritual level. Our goal is to encourage Christians in their walk with their faith as well as share the gospel with those who don’t know it.”
For members, FCA has become more than just a club; it is a way to grow personally and spiritually while developing leadership skills.
“FCA has really allowed me to develop both my personal faith and leadership,” Hostetter said. “As a role model for our club members, I am encouraged to continuously grow in my faith in knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
“In addition, I have developed strong public speaking and communication skills from leading meetings and planning large events,” Hostetter said. “Overall, FCA has allowed me to grow in many great ways.”
FCA meetings and events provide members with both spiritual guidance and fun social interaction. The club meets every Sunday night from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Miller Chapel lobby. Members play games, have fellowship and participate in weekly devotionals that explore faith in the context of sports.
