LVC’s student theatre organization, Wig and Buckle Theatre Company, will put on its annual fall musical “Alice by Heart” this weekend.
“Alice by Heart” tells the story of Alice Spencer, a teenaged girl living through the London Blitz. The audience should expect familiar themes from classic fairytale, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” written by Lewis Carroll.
“I am so excited for the audience to see all the hard work that has gone into this production,” Katherine Buerke, president of Wig and Buckle Theatre Company, said. “It is an emotionally taxing show, but I am continuously blown away by the caliber of talent and dedication that goes into each rehearsal.”
Scarlet Laity, director of “Alice by Heart,” also shared her pride for the cast, production crew and creative team.
“My favorite part about being the director for [‘Alice by Heart’] is watching the cast grow together and form a strong connection throughout this beautiful creation of a show,” Laity said. “Their hard work and dedication made this show happen and I couldn’t be happier.”
“Alice by Heart” is not only an opportunity to support the talented students involved with Wig and Buckle, but it is also an uplifting story that is sure to move audience members.
“What excites me the most about this show is how diverse it is,” Laity said. “It’s so fun, silly, and unhinged but at the same time real and heavy. There are truly real feelings and depth in this show that are perfectly portrayed by our wonderful actors and actresses. I want all the audience members to leave feeling like they walked in the shoes of the characters in this show.”
All members of the LVC community are invited to support the upcoming production. Wig and Buckle will host four performances this weekend:
- Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.
- Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m.
All performances will be held in Leedy Theater and are free for LVC students. Reserve tickets at wigandbuckle.booktix.com.
