While most college students spend their free time studying and preparing for exams, junior Owen Strouse dedicates his time to his team and serving his community.

When he is not practicing for LVC as a quarterback, Strouse can be found fighting fires, being a volunteer for Annville Cleona Station 5.

“I volunteer as a firefighter as a way to give back to my community,” Strouse said. “Knowing that people in need are relying on us to be there during an emergency situation is what it is all about.”

Strouse, from Dallastown, Pa., also volunteers in his hometown, responding to fire calls with Southern Area Fire Emergency and Rescue Service Station 13-2. He has been running fire calls since he was 14 years old, having an interest in helping others at a young age.

His choices show that dedication goes beyond the classroom and football field.

“Some nights I get back from a call and still have homework to finish,” Strouse said. “It’s tough, but it’s worth it.”

From the sidelines to the firehouse, Owen Strouse continues to prove that leadership and service go hand in hand.
