The Dutchmen keep winning as several athletes go further than others have ever gone.
This fall has shown be an impressive start to many team’s seasons at the Valley, with five athletes across several sports being named MAC Freedom Players of the Week.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, LVC men’s soccer shut out Gettysburg 2-0. Senior center back Logan Hicks was named MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week for his work leading the back line.
Logan wasn’t the only nominee as forward Nathan Prex was nominated for MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the week for breaking LVC men’s soccer career point record in the victory of Gettysburg, and the career goal record in a three to one win over Cairn.
MAC Golfer of the week was won this past week by junior Jillian Fidler who set a record at the Susquehanna Invitational by placing first and setting a school record by shooting a 71 in the individual competition.
In the King’s Invitational last Saturday, several Dutchmen tennis players finished second, with junior Colin Brusse standing out by going 3-1 in his four singles flights. Collin was awarded MAC Freedom Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Last weekend, LVC football hosted FDU, winning an exciting afternoon game 31-17. Senior wide receiver Jonathon Hannevig made MAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week after blocking a punt early in the game which was returned for a touchdown.
Other athletic awards include several Dutchmen football players being nominated to the Division III Football Team of the Week including senior defensive back Carter Foust and the starting offensive line including seniors Trevor Gallagher, Hunter Hanna and Nate Argiro as well as junior Logan Milito and sophomore Jeremy Carter. Foust had a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown while the offensive line led Dutchmen in the trenches for 287 rushing yards on the day.
Congratulations to these athletes for their outstanding performances on the field.
