LVC’s music theatre department will stage a thrilling season of five shows this academic year.
Entering its fourth year, the music theatre department is expanding quickly with an ambitious lineup. The season’s productions include: “The Last Five Years,” “Speed Dating Tonight!” “Space Pirates,” “The Biggest Little House in the Forest” and “Carrie.”
The department has already begun rehearsals for several shows, creating an exciting performance calendar for the year.
The first show of the season will be the alumni musical, featuring Mark and Katy Naimoli in “The Last Five Years”. This will be the first alumni show for the music theatre department, opening up a new range of actors to the department.
The season also includes its annual opera, “Speed Dating Tonight!” which will be the second opera done at LVC. It offers the campus a diverse range of music styles within LVC, providing students with an enticing new experience in performing.
Another new feature of shows of the department is the theatre for the very young musical and the children’s musical. “The Biggest Little House in the Forest” will be the theatre for the very young show, with the performance being for kids ages five and under, which will include LVC students in the cast.
The other children’s musical, “Space Pirates”, will have a cast of kids from around the community. This is also a new addition to the department, and will be directed by Carter Palmer, a senior music education major. Both the children’s shows will put on only one performance.
The spring production show is the prominent show of the year for the music theatre department, as it is the fourth spring production being put on by it. The musical will be “Carrie”, based on the Stephen King novel. The show will have a total of four performances in April.
The music theatre department will be bringing plenty of entertainment this year, as it begins its season this month. Be sure to check out the amazing performances to come. Tickets can be bought at lvcmt.booktix.com.
