Tau Kappa Epsilon expecting largest recruitment class in years

A fraternity at LVC is setting itself up for a comeback after years of low recruitment.

As rush week approaches, Collin Schick, Tau Kappa Epsilon’s new rush chair, is learning from past mistakes to make this year’s recruitment class the chapter’s largest in years.

“Especially in the past two years or so, recruitment classes have been really small, and a lot of our recruitment has been upper classmen, so member turnover has been really high,” Schick said.

Schick gave insight into his plan to turn around slow recruitment after holding the position for six months.

“I’m looking to recruit earlier, get a recruitment process started earlier, so that we can make a bigger connection with more of these guys that are either freshman or sophomores or others that we don’t know as well” Schick said.

Despite not being able to directly recruit first-year students, Schick is optimistic about recruitment this year.

“I’m predicting a ten-man class, hopefully higher, but I think that’s a safe bet,” Schick said about his predictions for this year’s recruitment. “And then in the spring, I’m hoping for a larger class of hopefully fifteen, including freshmen and others.”

Schick encourages any male student interested in joining Tau Kappa Epsilon to reach out to the chapter on Instagram at either tke_px or collinschick52.
