LVC’s IIL committee encourages students interested in helping to plan events on campus and provide inclusive and intercultural education to nominate themselves for the one-year position.
The committee, which was established in 2016, has been dedicated to providing inclusive events and education at LVC over the past five years. They host the annual Symposium on Inclusive Excellence and sponsor various events that center around race and LGBTQ+ social justice awareness, gender and identity education, policy changes and immigration issues.
“We have started planning for this year’s symposium scheduled for Tuesday, February 8,” Jill Russell, director of global education and co-facilitator of the IIL, said. “We are also looking at other opportunities for educational events before and after the symposium.”
In addition to helping plan the symposium and other events, members of the committee will help review current programs and develop new programs that aim to maintain inclusion and acceptance at LVC.
“We need creative and open-minded students with a passion for problem solving to help the IIL continue to educate our campus community through our inclusive excellence charge,” Russell said. “If you have the ability to work in a team, understand why inclusion is a priority at LVC, and want to help us achieve our goals around diversity, equity and inclusion–apply for the one-year position!”
The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 22. Students may email Jill Russell at russell@lvc.edu for questions or more information.
