LVC’s women’s basketball team has been experiencing a remarkable winter season, thanks in part to its captains— two of which are roommates.
Cristina Fernandez, a senior guard and women’s basketball captain, has lived with Brielle Reidinger, a junior forward and co-captain, since the fall semester of 2023. Reidinger transferred from Nazareth College to LVC for her sophomore year, and both roommates were named captains for the 2024-2025 season along with junior guard Riley Hevelow.
“As a captain of the team, there are huge responsibilities,” Fernandez said. “Although when you have a good, responsive team, it makes our job so much easier.”
The women’s basketball team is currently 5-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference play. Reidinger was also named Middle Atlantic Conference player of the week at the end of January.
“I am honored and appreciative to have the role of captain, but it can be challenging at times,” Reidinger said. “I’m really glad there are two other great captains to talk things over with.”
The team maintained a six-win streak from Saturday, Jan. 11, to Wednesday, Jan. 25. It will celebrate senior day in its final game against Arcadia University on Saturday, Feb. 22, honoring Fernandez and two other seniors.
“As a team, we share a common goal and that is to win conference!” Fernandez said. “Mark my words.”
