The Dutchmen were stunned Friday, Sept. 6, as they traveled to Lancaster, PA, to face off against the Franklin and Marshall Diplomats.
The Friday night lights matchup displayed two former postseason teams battling to start their seasons on the right foot.
The Dutchmen turned the ball over three times against the hardnosed Diplomat defense. The final score, 30-10, dropped the Dutchmen to 0-1 on the season. There was visible frustration on the Dutchmen’s sideline as they managed to only get into the endzone late in the fourth quarter.
The Dutchmen’s senior quarterback, Braden Bohannon, went 10/15 with 90 yards and two interceptions. Junior wide receiver Deshawn Wilson hauled in 7 receptions for 90 yards against the Diplomats. Luke Pollock, a junior linebacker, finished the game with 12 tackles.
Senior kicker Tim Kissinger broke the LVC school record with the longest field goal in the school’s history with a 56-yarder at the end of the first half.
The Dutchmen bounced back the following week, Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. in a big win in their home opener against Stevenson University.
