Softball takes on toughest opponent yet

By Kyle Shenk ’25, staff writer

LVC softball takes on DeSales University in a two-game series on Tuesday, March 26, at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. These games are away and will be held in the form of a double-header.

The Dutchmen started out the season extremely strong, posting a 10-4 record. Their pitching has been a big contributor to the team’s success, as senior pitcher Erin Sinatra, who has an impressive 6-1 record to go along with a 1.49 ERA, and senior pitcher Jordan Walter, who has posted a 3.07 ERA and 29 strikeouts, both have had excellent starts to the season.

The bats have also been a large part of the team’s success. Sophomore third baseman Nicole Kratz currently holds an impressive batting average of .400 while having driven in eight runs, senior first baseman Julia Craig is batting .364 with nine runs driven in and first-year outfielder Katie Muller is batting .324 with a solid .395 on-base percentage.

Two of the team’s losses have unfortunately come in the last two games, as the Dutchmen were swept in their series against Moravian University. They’ll look to right the ship in this upcoming series.

Beating DeSales may be a challenge, however, as LVC’s upcoming opponent currently holds a record of 12-4. DeSales is also riding a five-game win streak, so the Dutchmen will need to continue their stellar play if they wish to win this inner-conference matchup.

The game can be viewed on DeSales’s website, and a link to it is provided in the game information on godutchmen.com. Be sure to tune in to what will be sure to be an exciting game!
