LVC softball, ranked 19th in the country, opened MAC Freedom conference play with a doubleheader sweep against Stevens Institute of Technology.
In game one, senior pitcher Erin Sinatra led the charge with a strong performance in the pitching circle. She pitched all seven innings with nine strikeouts and only one earned run allowed. With this performance, Sinatra improved her record to 6-0 on the season.
On the offensive end, LVC was led by Julia Craig and Nicole Kratz. Craig had two hits with three RBIs and three runs scored. Kratz finished game one with three hits, one RBI and one run scored. The final score of game one was 6-1.
LVC continued its dominance in game two. Senior pitcher Jordan Walter continued the trend of strong pitching by going five innings with three strikeouts and no runs allowed. With this win, she improved her record to 4-2 on the year. Lindsey McCurdy led the team offensively, going three for three with two runs scored. Sam Burns, Lexi Smith and Kate Muller all chipped in with two hits of their own, helping power the team to an 8-0 victory.
LVC softball is now 10-2 on the season.
On Tuesday, March 20, the Dutchmen will play 16th-ranked Moravian in a doubleheader at LVC softball park starting at 3 p.m.
