To embrace the Halloween spirit, Bishop Library hosted a spooky art activity for students to participate in.

Bishop Library introduced a Halloween activity called Ghost Painting. Students attending this activity were provided with an old campus picture and a white paint marker to add ghosts.

“There’s a trend on TikTok with painting on thrift store paintings,” Maureen Bentz, director of Bishop Library, said.

Having a background in working in the school’s archives, Bentz knew where to find old pictures of the campus and which to use for this activity, specifically unique ones.

“I’m familiar with some of the collections we have, some of the images that are unusual and aren’t as known by students,” Bentz said. “I wanted to pick some things that are maybe a little lesser known.”

Although this activity was based on a recent TikTok trend, Bentz wants to continue this activity in the following years based on the success of this activity or even another art-related activity for students to participate in.

Students crafted the spooky art from Oct. 25 through Oct. 31 on the main floor of Bishop Library.
