An LVC men’s lacrosse coach looks forward to homecoming weekend because it means he gets to see players from the past.

Justin Kieffer, assistant lacrosse coach and athletic equipment manager, plays a key role in the set up for the men’s lacrosse alumni game.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the players from previous years and seeing how our current team matches up,” Kieffer said. “I like to see how some of the young guys handle playing against older opponents, especially when some of those guys have been all-conference or all-American who can still play at that level.”

Kieffer has been with the lacrosse team at LVC since 2012. He is currently in charge of getting the roster together for the alumni game, and it isn’t easy.

“The alumni all have lives now that don’t revolve around playing college lacrosse here and so sometimes that makes it hard to get a full squad ready,” he said.

The alumni game will take place during homecoming weekend, which gives former players more of a reason to play in the alumni game.

“[Homecoming weekend has] golf outings, alumni games, varsity games and other events on campus,” Kieffer said. “It’s huge for our program because it shows our new freshmen and their families how important this program was to the alumni during their college experience here at LVC.”

This year’s LVC men’s lacrosse alumni game is slated for Saturday, Oct. 14, at 9 a.m. on Arnold Field.
