Lebanon Valley College held its fourth “White Coat Ceremony” on Thursday, Aug. 31.
All senior speech and language pathologist majors (SLP) have reached a major milestone in their collegiate careers. After completing a rigorous first week, referred to as “Boot Camp” by students and professors, they have now received their white coats.
“In addition to our original classes for the semester, for the first week we undergo many training sessions that will prepare us for our practices as a student clinician,” Riley Finnegan, a senior SLP major, said.
The white coat signifies these students transitioning from only learning within the classroom to taking their knowledge and applying it towards the variety of patients they will treat.
“As we go into the rest of our semester as first-year graduate students, we are preparing to begin our first responsibilities as not only students, but clinicians working with individuals in the Lebanon community,” Maddy Frank, a senior SLP major, said.
