The Clothesline Project

As April marks the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, members of an LVC sorority prepare to raise awareness.

Gamma Sigma Sigma (Gamma), LVC’s longest-standing sorority on campus, strives to promote service, friendship and equality both on campus and within the community.

Gamma will be sponsoring The Clothesline Project, a program started in 1990 meant to address violence against women, while also giving women a means to express their emotions through decorating a shirt. After the shirt is decorated, it is placed on a clothesline as a public display attesting to the ongoing issue of violence against women.

Members of both the LVC and local community are invited to join Gamma in the Underground of Mund College Center on April 3 from 6-8 p.m. to create a shirt that signifies personal experiences or experiences of a loved one.

The shirts will then be displayed in the Peace Garden on April 12 and 13 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.
