The Dutchmen women’s lacrosse team played for something special this week.

The team dedicated its game on Wednesday, March 29, to the Armed Forces.  As the team honored the Armed Forces, it also had two people close to the team who were honored.

Junior midfielder, Maria Brandt, and volunteer strength and conditioning coach, Kevin Long, were recognized before the game for serving in the Armed Forces.

The game was the team’s conference opener against Widener University.  The Dutchmen fought hard, with seven different players scoring a goal for the team. Emily Beard, a junior midfielder, led the Dutchmen with two goals.  The team fell short, losing 14-8.

“Kevin and Maria have both joined our team this year with such a large impact,” Anna Lougee, a junior defender, said. “It made us realize that we wanted to play hard for them and show our appreciation for everything that they have done and continue to do for us.”

The team also sold hats for the occasion during the day at Mund and at the game.  All proceeds went to the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Go Dutchmen!
