LVC’s American Sign Language club decided to host a Valentine-themed fundraiser of hand-delivering candy grams for others’ loved ones this Valentine’s Day, and it was a major success.
The club raised hundreds of dollars to aid in supporting local communities.
“This was the first fundraiser the club has held,” Alie August, a junior speech-language pathology major and vice president of the ASL club, said.
The club is raising money in the hope that club members can be able can go out into different communities and practice singing in real-world situations. This event was able to raise just under $200 in support of this.
“Learning American Sign Language helps to support inclusivity in the workplace and beyond,” August said.
The club also hosted the event to raise awareness on campus of the benefits of learning sign language.
