LVC students earned the day off of school before Thanksgiving break.
The Dutchmen marched from campus to President James MacLaren’s house on Monday, Nov. 14, to continue the longtime tradition of asking for the day off classes the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
The march happens when the Dutchmen football team beats conference rivals, Albright. This is the third straight season that the football team has defeated Albright.
The march began at 4 p.m. at the home side bleachers next to Arnold Field. Led by the football team, marching band and cheerleaders, students marched across the bridge and around the baseball field. They then marched up MacLaren’s hillside and gathered in front of his house as graduate student football team captain, Ian Murhon, asked MacLaren for the day off.
MacLaren congratulated the team on the win and granted everyone the day off. Students cheered with joy at the news. With the chilly day, there was also a hot chocolate bar to enjoy on the front lawn after the festivities.
Enjoy your day off, Dutchmen!
