Metz and La Vie

By Julia Craig ’24, staff writer

In the recent student forum featuring Metz and public safety, students were given the opportunity to ask questions, as well as hear directly from Timothy Hartlieb, the general manager of Metz.  Hartlieb expressed that there was a disconnect of communication and marketing between Metz and students.

With the help of Hartlieb, Landis Brown, the dining room manager and Megan Temple, the assistant manager, Metz and La Vie will be promoting special announcements and events that Metz will be putting on for students.

For planning purposes:

10/31: Scary Carnival; Mund Dining Hall will feature Halloween-themed food, as well as a costume contest with prizes.

11/3: National Sandwich Day; Mund Dining Hall will feature Reuben foot-long sandwiches.  Dutchmen Den will also be providing free upgrades to make any sandwich a foot-long.

11/10: National Vanilla Cupcake Day; Mund Dining Hall will serve vanilla cupcakes and the Dutchmen Den will be serving a special vanilla cupcake milkshake.

11/11: National Sundae Day; There will be a sundae bar in Mund Dining Hall.

11/13: Hunger Bank Event; 3 p.m. in the Underground.  Email Jen Liedtka, LVC’s service and volunteer coordinator, for tickets.  Students will have a meal that emulates how people from underprivileged countries experience a meal.

11/14: National Pickle Day; Mund Dining Hall will be serving fried pickles.  Dutchmen Den will be serving pickles on a stick.

11/15: Fall Harvest Dinner; Metz will be hosting an upscale dinner for students who sign up through Redbook.

11/17: Baklava Day; Mund Dining Hall will have baklava served.  Retail locations, such as Dutchmen Den and Intermetzo will be selling it as well.

11/17: Thanksgiving Dinner; Students can sign up through Redbook for a family style Thanksgiving dinner.

11/21: Thanksgiving in a box; Students who may be having food insecurities over Thanksgiving Break can use flex for multiple meals.  Meals will be donated from Metz that Tuesday and Thursday.

11/22: Chef Jordan Thanksgiving Cooking Class; Chef Jordan will be hosting a Thanksgiving cooking class for students.

11/28: National French Toast Day; There will be a French toast bar in place of the omelet bar for breakfast.
