The fall semester is almost over, and the fall sports’ seasons are coming to a close. Let’s see the teams that are possibly contending for a spot in the MAC playoffs.
The men’s soccer team is in the middle of the pack in the MAC conference standings and has two more games of the season against Messiah and York. Messiah is sitting at the top of the conference and is 15-1 overall, so getting a win from them will be quite the challenge. York, on the other hand, is in the bottom half of the standings, so possibly splitting 1-1 with those two games would be ideal and could help secure a playoff spot.
Women’s soccer sits at the top of the MAC standings conference record-wise and has clinched a playoff spot for the MAC playoffs. The final games of the season determine the seed the team gets and who they end up playing in the tournament. The women also have their last two games against Messiah and York and winning both would do nothing but help the seed they would get.
The women’s field hockey team has a 3-4 conference record and a 7-9 record overall. They have one last game against Messiah who sit at the top of the field hockey standings as well with a 12-2 record, so LVC’s playoff chances rest on if they win that game, and then Albright loses their last conference game of the season.
With a 4-3 conference record and 16-7 record overall, the women’s volleyball team has clinched a spot in the MAC tournament and will most likely be the 4th or 5th seed for the tournament. They play against Widener in their last game of the season, and they are a game behind them in conference rankings. Winning that game would shut out Widener from stealing that 4th seed slot.
The LVC football team sits in the middle of the MAC conference with a 4-2 record and 4-4 record overall. Their last game is against Albright, and winning that game can help increase their chances of securing a bowl game in the next coming weeks.
The fall sports teams have been performing well and are on the cusp of having amazing seasons. Hopefully, we see some Flying Dutchmen playing in the NCAA tournaments and winning some titles!
