With the fall break upon them and six weeks of the semester underway, students might be feeling a bit burnt out.
Whether a student has been considering treatment, has had a peer try it and has seen results, or is just in need of someone to talk to, LVC’s staff and counseling services are ready and available to help.
“The counseling services at LVC provided me with the help and resources that I needed,” an LVC student said. “They offer students the help they need to accomplish tasks in their everyday lives.”
Counseling Services cover both in-person and virtual visits for a short-term period of time, free of charge to full-time students. All of this includes assistance with topics from anxiety to crisis intervention to relationship problems.
More importantly, counseling Service staff and 5050 Peer Helpers are both required to undergo Brave Zone training, pertaining to the LGBTQ+ members on campus, as well as Title IX and QPR training too.
One of the best opportunities that LVC provides students with is the Open Hour. This is held every single weekday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the second floor of the Bishop Library, overlooking the atrium. Here students can meet face to face, one-on-one, with a licensed counselor that will provide guidance and assistance to determine what resource are appropriate and available.
“Going to one-on-one appointments every couple of weeks did a lot more for me than I thought it would have,” another LVC student said. “If I knew that a close friend or someone in class was struggling, Counseling Services is a good place to start.”
These appointments take place to best fit the student’s schedule and can be made via the “Request for Appointment form” on the “Counseling Services” page through lvc.edu, or by calling 717-867-6232.
Students may also find themselves in the Shroyer Health Center throughout the counseling process at LVC.
Here, students have the chance to attend counseling appointments as well as visit 5050 Peer Helpers. Appointments can be made by emailing 5050@lvc.edu, or directly through the Shroyer Health Center.
It’s important that students remember they are never alone and have options when it comes to managing their mental health throughout the semester.
