Campus climate survey results

By Josh Hildebrand ’22, staff writer

It is time for the yearly campus climate survey.

Each year, LVC’s president assesses the campus’ climate and presents the results. This year, the event will take place Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m. on Zoom. President James MacLaren and Dr. Felicia Brown-Haywood, associate vice president of diversity, equity, inclusion and institutional success will discuss the results, campus needs and next steps.

President MacLaren also announced there was a noticeable uptick in inappropriate Yik Yak posts targeting individuals and marginalized groups of students. Yik Yak is an app that allows users to anonymously post and view discussion threads within a five-mile radius. He encouraged all students to treat individuals with respect, in line with the positive progress LVC has made recently.

Those who witness or experience a bias incident should report it here if they feel comfortable doing so. Additionally, counseling services are available at counselingservices@lvc.edu. For personal support or a listening ear, Annesha Edwards-Carter, director of diversity, equity, inclusion and intercultural affairs, can be reached at aedwards@lvc.edu.
