Now that midterms and breaks have come to an end, it is time for the music department to start its recitals.
This semester there are many full and half recitals that will be taking place in Lutz Hall and Zimmerman Recital Hall. Juniors will be performing the half recitals and seniors will be performing the full recitals.
The full recitals are typically an hour long, and a majority of the pieces performed in that time are solos. They can also use their recitals to perform in small groups or in a duo.
The half recitals are performed by two juniors, each performing a few solo pieces, and usually working together at the end to perform a few duet pieces together. Some students have already had their recitals this semester, but others are starting to get ready for their recitals for the spring semester.
“Mine is next semester and I am so excited because it’s mostly juniors and seniors, the people I’ve gone through most of college with,” Julia Kelbaugh, a junior music education major, said.
Kelbaugh is very excited for her recital in the spring semester.
“It’s a lot of prep work this semester and on break, since mine is only four weeks after the spring semester starts.”
There are more recitals coming up at the end of October and many more in November. These Dutchmen have been preparing diligently for their recitals and will do an amazing job.
