Guest speaker to present for Hispanic Heritage Month

By Josh Hildebrand ’22, staff writer

It’s an opportunity for LVC students to learn about Hispanic heritage outside of the classroom.

On Monday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m., Dr. Ivette Guzmán-Zavala, professor of Spanish, will host a guest speaker over Zoom.

Since 2010, Dr. Guzmán-Zavala has planned this event to celebrate Latinx heritage during Hispanic Heritage month. This year, the speaker is Dr. Nicole M. Guidotti-Hernández.

Dr. Guidotti-Hernández’s presentation, “Borderlands Intimacies: Spatial and Cultural Clashes Post Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo,” will be about the US/Mexico border. She will also discuss the role of borders in Latina/o studies.

Dr. Guidotti-Hernández graduated from Cornell University with a Ph.D. in English and Latina/o Studies. She currently teaches English at Emory University.

Students and faculty must register in advance here.
