LatinX, in conjunction with Metz, held Latin Food Week in from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 as a part of its Hispanic Heritage Month activities.
Every night Hispanic food was available in Mund during dinner for students to eat. Selections included empanadas and Puerto Rican egg nog, among other choices.
“A big part of Hispanic culture is our food,” Yeika Pizarro, sophomore psychology major and club president, said. “That being said, we wanted to share that with the rest of campus and also bring a peace of home to other Hispanic students at LVC.”
Previous events during the month included Salsa Night, a cultural dine-in, and a showing of the movie “Prada to Nada.” As for upcoming events, the club will host a pot painting night on Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. and a speech/karaoke contest in conjunction with the Spanish department on Oct. 15. The latter will include prizes for the top three participants.
LatinX meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. in Lynch 186 and via Zoom.
