In these uncertain times LVC has completed its first week of classes with a smoother transition for some more than others.
With the new semester, students and staff have had to get used to all the changes around campus to ensure everyone’s safety. Such changes include timed move-in blocks, socially distant classrooms, directed traffic flow in buildings, and online classes.
All of these precautions seem to be paying off as LVC has not seen any cases yet, unlike other colleges such as Notre Dame and Bloomsburg.
“It’s been surreal,” Rebekah Nickel, a senior art and visual culture major, said. “Everyone’s walking around wearing masks. I don’t think any of us thought we would be here.”
The majority seem to be adapting, though there have been several bumps along the way. LVC students received an email on Thursday, Aug. 27, from President James McLaren about some people who are not adhering to the new policies.
“I’m upset with people who aren’t complying because they aren’t taking this seriously,” Chloe Kline, a senior English and art and visual culture double major, said. “People who are attending these large parties are going to be the reason this campus gets shut down.”
With sophomores and juniors returning to campus next week, there is still time for things to change, for the better or worse. Only time will tell.
