Navigating technology during COVID-19

In a time when Zoom meetings are abound, Information Technology means everything.

The new COVID-19 guidelines have impacted campus activity for all LVC staff members, and the IT department is no exception. As seen on its LVC website, the IT department is not taking walk-ins until further notice as a part of the guidelines and are only doing appointments. This can be a hassle for LVC students, since the convenience of walking into the Lynch basement at any time if their phone or laptop is having issues is no longer available to them.

With more classes doing online Zoom meetings as a substitute for in-class sessions, this inconvenience is exacerbated. However, despite the inconvenience this might bring to students, some students seem to be understanding of this guideline relating to COVID-19.

“While I think it is an inconvenience, it’s something that we can adapt to,” Tanner Haynes, junior major in political science, said.  “If it makes campus safer and helps keep us on campus, I cannot complain too much.”

The new guidelines on campus have been in affect for the past two weeks, with very few COVID-19 cases and an optimistic staff who hope to keep it that way.
