First-Year Mentor selection process

A First-Year Mentor (FYM), formerly known as a peer mentor, is an undergraduate upper-class student who leads and serves as a mentor for a group of approximately 10–20 first-year or transfer students throughout New Student Orientation and during their first year at LVC. The primary mission of the FYM program is to ease the transition of new students to Lebanon Valley College and encourage their personal, social and academic success. Additionally, the program helps new students connect with other peers, support systems and, ultimately, the institution.

The application process began on Feb. 14, but if anyone is looking for more information about the position, there will be two information sessions to learn about the nuts and bolts of being a FYM. The sessions will be Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. and March 10 at 11 a.m. The sessions will be held in Tweedie located in the Allan W. Mund College Center.

For students interested in being a First-Year Mentor, they can apply online by going to http://portal.lvc.edu/mylvc/apps/student-activities/peer-mentor-form/. All applications must be submitted by Friday, March 13, at 4 p.m. to be considered. If students have any questions, contact Associate Director of Student Engagement Brandon Smith.
