The LVC’s Men’s Golf Team travelled to Williamsport Country Club on Monday Sept. 23, for its third tournament, Lycoming College Fall Invitational. The starting five for Monday were Thomas Moran, Cole Hepler, Hugh Mauck, Robert Wurster and Tyler Romel.
“Williamsport Country Club is a beautiful course,” Tyler Romel, sophomore accounting major, said. “It’s always a great time on the golf course and after getting first tournament jitters out of the way, I was able to relax.”
Williamsport Country Club was a beautiful course and weather cooperated for the team throughout the day. Each team member was able to gain the experience of playing a challenging course while competing for each other as a team.
“The first match wasn’t what I expected, but I learned a lot from my mistakes,” Robert Wurster, junior accounting major, said. “Coach Swisher has been giving me pointers as well as veterans on the team regarding my play. My goal was to make improvements each match and yesterday was a good start.”
The team had its best finish this year coming in seventh out of 10 teams. Thomas Moran shot a team low 74 while Cole Hepler followed with 77. Robert (97), Hugh (103) and Tyler (106) were the final scores for LVC. A second best total of (351) was calculated Monday as LVC looks to improve moving forward.
The next match will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Alvernia University’s Fall Invitational in Mohnton, PA. Ledgerock Golf Club is hosting the invitational as LVC looks to continue to make strides in a positive direction.
