Despite the LVC men’s ice hockey team’s recent struggles, there is still a chance for the Dutchmen to make the playoffs this season.
After two hard fought losses this past weekend against Bryn Athyn and Elmira College, the Dutchmen currently sit in eighth place in the UCHC with two conference games left this season. Six teams make the UCHC playoffs and LVC is five points behind Neumann for the last spot in the postseason.
With only two games remaining this season, the Dutchmen will have to win both games and hope that Neumann loses each of its final contests for LVC to clinch the final spot in the playoffs.
Despite the odds being stacked against them, LVC men’s ice hockey remains confident.
“Even though we’ve struggled lately, we are still confident in ourselves,” Mike Straub, senior defenseman and team captain, said. “All of the guys know what’s at stake so I expect two big wins from us this weekend.”
The Dutchmen will close out the regular season with two home games. They play Chatham University on Friday, Feb. 15, and Stevenson University on Saturday, Feb. 16.
