As fall is upon us, local businesses are prepping for the spookiest day of the yearâHalloween.
Among these local businesses is the Allen Theatre. This old fashioned, single-screen theatre is preparing for the holiday by gathering some of Halloween fansâ favorite films. These movies include âThe Nightmare Before Christmasâ, âPsycho (1960)â, âDracula Balletâ and âHalloween (2018).â
âAll October long weâve been showing some of our favorite Halloween movies to bring some excitement back to the community,â Nick Felty, a manager at the Allen Theatre and Backstage CafĂŠ, said.
While the chance to see âThe Nightmare Before Christmasâ has already passed, there are many opportunities to see the other spooky films throughout the rest of October.
âIâve never seen âThe Nightmare Before Christmas,â but after seeing it at the Allen Theater I really fell in love with the whimsical charm this film had to offer as well as the absolutely adorable aesthetic of the theater,â Kaitlyn Reed, a senior political science major, said. âI hope to see more films at the Allen Theatre, like âHalloweenâ, which is coming out soon. I believe itâs important to support small businesses during the pandemic, and the Allen is a definite hotspot for Friday night films, or any other day really.â
The Allen Theatre has chosen two special showings for Halloween. âDracula Balletâ is set for Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. As a treat to local Halloween fans, they have also chosen to feature âHalloween (2018)â on the same dates for a rare night showing at 10 p.m.
The current showing is the uncut and unrated version of âPsycho (1960)â at the theatreâs regular showtimes of 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
For Halloween lovers nearby, the Allen Theatre is a great place to get in the holiday spirit with friends and family. For more information on movies and showtimes, visit https://www.allentheatre.com/, or follow their social media accounts to stay up to date with their future features.
