Are you starting to feel end-of-semester stress kick in? If so, LVC has many resources that can aid in stress relief.
LVC offers counseling services, including professional counselors and peer support, that are available to all students.
The 5050 peer helpers are a group of students who provide support for common issues such as relationships, anxiety and academics. The 5050s complete Title IX, BraveZone and QPR suicide prevention trainings to better support their peers.
For peer support, students can contact 5050@lvc.edu to schedule appointments at Shroyer Health Center. The 5050 peer helpers also facilitate Friendly Faces, a weekly social support group. Friendly Faces is held on Sundays at 6 p.m. in the Shroyer Health Center.
Professional counseling is also available at the Shroyer Health Center. Students can request an appointment using the linked form or by calling 717-867-6232. The health center also offers drop-in hours for brief meetings with a licensed counselor every weekday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
LVC also offers other ways for students to relieve stress, such as nights of service, the Arnold Sports Center and other opportunities on Redbook.
The office of community service and volunteerism hosts a weekly night of service—an hour-long service opportunity at 7 p.m. on either Monday or Tuesday nights. These opportunities occur in the Miller Chapel lobby. A different organization is served each week.
The Arnold Sports Center and Heilman Center also offer various programs that can be beneficial for stress relief.
There are two fitness classes available this fall: cardio pump, a combination of weights and cardio, on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:45 a.m. in Arena Court 1 and yoga on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. on Shroyer Lawn or in the Mund Underground.
The sports center’s general facility hours are Monday-Thursday from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for recreational use of equipment.
Many other fun stress-relief opportunities are available for sign-up on Redbook.
