In its most recent outing, the LVC football team played for a special cause.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, the Dutchmen hosted its annual pink game, where it played for breast cancer awareness. Near the south endzone, there was a tent run by the PA Breast Cancer Coalition.
Fans were able to write notes of encouragement to fighters and survivors of breast cancer. There were also complimentary pink snacks, drinks, accessories for guests and opportunities for donations for care packages that the coalition gifts to those with breast cancer.
The Dutchmen football team also wore pink accessories during the game, in which it battled the Alvernia University Golden Wolves in a conference matchup. The game was close, as scoring drives went back and forth between the teams.
LVC fought hard and finished with a win, with a final score of 34-26. Junior quarterback Braden Bohannon led the offense with three touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Rylee Stahl led the offense in receiving, with a total of 44 yards.
“It’s always a good feeling to play for something bigger than just a game, especially when we come out on top,” Stahl said.
Come out to Arnold Field next Saturday, Nov. 4 at 12 p.m., as the Dutchmen will celebrate its senior day and final home game of the season.
