LVC’s ultimate frisbee club, the Jammin’ Jackalopes, traveled to its first tournament.
On Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, the Jammin’ Jackalopes traveled to Wilkes Barre for its first tournament of the fall semester. The team was comprised of 13 students, nine experienced players and four new players who had never attended a tournament before.
The tournament was hosted by Wilkes Barre College’s ultimate frisbee club, Wilkes Berries. It consisted of five teams, each guaranteed four pool play games, followed by a championship bracket.
The Jammin’ Jackalopes placed third in the tournament overall and had a record of three wins and two losses for the day. The scores of the pool games were 7-6, 8-5, 4-9 and 9-6. The team lost 6-9 in the semi-finals match.
Typically, the team rosters some alumni players and a few other crucial experienced players, but the team still excelled in its matchups for the day despite not having more experienced players. The team captains were very pleased with the outcome of the day.
The next tournament for the Jammin’ Jackalopes is on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 at Gettysburg College. The ultimate frisbee club also holds practices every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the fields next to the tennis courts and every Sunday from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Arnold Field.
