Two sisters share quite the bond, from going to LVC together and now working in the same school district.
Rachel Cassel ‘15 and Joanna Yeater ‘18 are both teaching in the Cornwall Lebanon School District, the same district that they grew up in. They are working alongside teachers that they had while they were going to Cornwall Elementary School.
These two sisters have been going to school together since elementary school and both ended up going to LVC. Rachel is a general music teacher and Joanna is currently an autistic support teacher.
“I enjoy working with Rachel because she is so supportive of my students with special needs,” Joanna said. “With a special ed classroom, it’s so great to have the music room as a comfortable space to send my students if they need a break. She has been so helpful with my kiddos and is a positive light in our building.”
Rachel is also happy to be working with her sister as they have such a unique experience as sisters and teachers.
“Working with my sister has been such a blessing,” Rachel said. “We work on an amazing team of teachers, but I know that I can approach her and get a completely open book. That is so reassuring to me as a specials teacher since I see our entire student body in a week’s time.”
These two sisters have enjoyed working with each other and both have enjoyed the coffee that they share at school.
“I’m also super lucky to have her when she brings me coffee,” Joanna said.
“Our spontaneous coffee and lunch orders are also a major plus to working in the same building,” Rachel said.
Both sisters say that they are happy to have each other close by, whether it was an LVC classroom or now down the hall at Cornwall Elementary School.
