The LVC Organ Guild presents its annual LVC Halloween concert. The concert, which promises to offer exciting “spooky Halloween music,” will take place at the Frederic K. Miller Chapel on Halloween Night. The concert will feature “…a surprise guest performer that plays the classic Bach D Minor Toccata and Fugue.”
“Not only is the recital attendance for the Music Majors,” Rachel Schulz, President of the LVC Organ Guild, said. “All those brave enough should come to the chapel balcony at 10 p.m. on Oct. 31.”
The American Guild of Organists was founded in 1896, and seeks to “foster a thriving community of musicians who share their knowledge and inspire passion for the organ.” While the LVC Organ Guild is currently no longer affiliated with the AGO, it continues to support its mission statement. The Guild is involved in a number of activities throughout the year, including educational Pizza and Pipes event, where middle and high school students were introduced to the organ with the assistance of the Harrisburg Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The Guild also is involved fundraisers, music sales, and other annual performances.
“There are currently nine members, with majors ranging from Biology to Music Education,” Schulz said. “For some, this is their first experience with the organ this semester, while others have had lessons since high school.”
Whether you’re a part of it or in the audience, the LVC Organ Guild is really for anyone.
