Lebanon Valley College is offering a study abroad trip to Maastricht, Netherlands, from May 9 – June 6, 2020; the trip will offer students the ability to learn about economic and cultural aspects of the European Union.
Maastricht is an English-speaking town located in southern Netherlands near the Belgian and German borders. The city boasts an array of shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs that create an exciting night life for students to explore. Students will have the freedom to plan weekend trips to other cities like Brussels, Paris, London etc.
“You have to do work, you have to study, and it does matter; but it’s also so much fun,” Jill Russell, director of global education, said. “You’re going to come back on a high you’ve never had before and be so proud of yourself.”
The program is offered to all rising sophomores, juniors and seniors who own at least a 2.5 GPA. The cost of the trip is $4,600 and includes: tuition, housing, field trips, textbooks and transportation to and from the airport. Airfare and personal expenses are not included.
While on the trip, students will be enrolled in two separate classes. Intercultural Communication is worth three credits and fulfills the intercultural competence constellation requirement. Students will also take BUS 275: Business in the European Union taught by Dr. Douglas Gautsch, which is also worth three credits.
While the work load will be significant, the program will allow students an opportunity to explore a new culture and make new friends, all while working towards their degree.
Students can visit the study abroad page on the LVC website. The application deadline for the trip is February 1, 2020.
