LVC recently hosted an event where people walked their dogs to help those in need.
“Bark for Life” is an annual event that not only promotes cancer awareness, but also raises money for cancer research.
“This event helps us honor and celebrate the survivors, remember the ones we lost and to continue the fight against cancer,” Emily Gray ’19, Colleges Against Cancer President, said.
The event opened with a ceremony and followed with a walk around the campus. After the walk, the dogs competed in several contests, such as best costume, smallest/biggest dog and greatest trick. There was a photo booth and people sold homemade dog toys for donations.
“This event benefits LVC because it is bringing awareness to a horrible disease that everyone has been touched by,” Gray said. “Whether it be through themselves, or someone they know that has been affected by cancer.”
The event closed with a ceremony and revealed how much money they raised for cancer research. This year’s “Bark for Life” raised $1,261.44.
