Slip on that pair of designer shoes and grab a Ferragamo handbag to complete the perfect look, which is exactly what Katherine Goldsmith did the day she interviewed for her internship with the fashion empire Salvatore Ferragamo.
Katherine Goldsmith, a junior business major, has recently accepted an internship with Salvatore Ferragamo in New York, New York for this upcoming summer, working as a wholesale intern for men and women’s clothing.
Goldsmith is not your typical girl. She is not only a student-athlete here on campus, participating on the women’s soccer team, but she has a passion for the fashion industry as well.
“I wanted to pursue the internship with Ferragamo because not only would it allow me to work in the fashion industry, but it would provide me with an amazing opportunity to further my career and gain new experiences,” Goldsmith, said.
Salvatore Ferragamo began as an Italian shoe designer in 1927, initially opening his first made-to-measure shoe shop in Hollywood, California that quickly became prized items among celebrities of his day.
“My internship will be in New York City on 5th Avenue,” Goldsmith said. “It is going to be a fast-paced environment where I will be working with customers, the product and assisting in events,” Goldsmith said.
Ferragamo is a key competitor in the luxury goods industry, producing and selling footwear, leather goods, clothing, silk products, accessories and perfumes for men and women, all made in Italy.
“July will be a very busy month as Ferragamo will be holding a fashion show that I will get to help put together,” Goldsmith said. “I am extremely excited for this aspect of the internship.”
Today, the Ferragamo industry is present in over ninety countries throughout the world. The company is present in Italy and worldwide through companies, which enable it to cover European, American and Asian markets.
