Students were able to taste staple African-American food/drinks while watching empowering films during Black History Month at the College.
Black History Month is an annual celebration of African Americans’ central role in U.S. history and achievements.
On Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. students gathered in Miller Chapel to watch the documentary, “I Am Not Your Negro.” The documentary analyzes African-Americans in pop culture, and the underlying societal racism and social construct that was created.
The showing of the documentary is part of “Superheroes and Soulful Bites,” a movie series run by Intercultural Affairs and Inclusive Programming.
LVC also celebrated Black History Month by dressing up in a black tie affair to see Marvel’s “Black Panther.”
Upcoming “Superheroes and Soulful Bites” events include the showings of “Detroit” on Feb. 21 and “Get Out” on Feb. 28 in Miller Chapel.
